I used to work an alarm company taking calls from field technicians installing mostly residential systems and telling them if it was working right, so I had to know how they worked. To be honest, it may be near impossible to get around without damaging something. You would have to do something before the system is armed. All the window sensors I've heard of use magnets. Most likely they are little narrow white boxes, one on the window that moves and one on anything around the window that doesn't move. When the window is closed, the boxes will be lined up right next to each other. You can mess with them if you want to, but most systems know if a wire has been cut, or if it's a wireless sensor the system will know if the sensor cover is opened or the battery removed. You can bypass zones if you have your code, but you can call your alarm company usually 24 hours a day and they can tell you how to bypass a zone (in this case your window) or how to disarm the system completely. I really don't suggest disarming it completely. The truth is these systems are designed to freak out if anyone is trying to disable them, I mean if a burglar tries to get around a system, you want your system to detect it and let you know about it. And it sounds like you're trying to get around it just the same. Your best bet is to get a user code and just turn off (bypass) that window. |

Bby_grl, Find some time when the system isn't armed. Then open the window and look for the pressure sensor. It is probably the type that is on a spring, and when you open the window, the sensor springs out. Get some tape and tape the sensor down, so that it doesn't pop up when the window opens. Now, when the alarm is armed, when you open the window, the sensor will stay in place and the alarm will not trigger. |

When the system is disarmed, press the bypass button then scroll through the zones and select the window you want to sneak out of. The usually to bypass it you press the star key. Depends on the system though, it should tell you as you go. I hope you guys have motion detectors or something because I wouldn't want some burglur to come in through that window after you go out it. |
