Where to get a home security system (alarm) for free?
I live in Ky. My husband and I are interested in getting a security system for our home. Where can I find a good company that has a free offer or something? I know that adt does something like that but you have to pay a $99 installation fee. Is that due after the put the system in? or before they come and do it? I tried protect america, but they want a $200 non refundable deposit due to our credit. I really don't want to pay $200 knowing it will never be returned. What additional equipment should we get for our home security system?
I just had an alarm system installed in our home because my husband is deployed. Now, because of issues with my neighbor, I don't feel what we have is enough. We currently have the motion dector, door contacts on the front door and sliding door, control panel, smoke alarm and key remote...and motion lights outside too. I'm considering getting the Glass Break Detector and having window contacts put on, but honestly, we don't have a ton of money to put into it right now and have to do it little by little. We have eleven windows on the ground floor, four of which are out of view of the motion detector. There are also two windows upstairs in the master bedroom. I'm wondering if we need both the GBD and the window contacts, or just one or the other. What is more likely to happen if someone breaks in? Will they try to open the window or break it? Seriously, I'm not good with this kind of stuff and I have no idea when I'll get to talk to my husband again so I don't know what he wants. What would you get?

I live outside of Cincinnati and I am shopping for a home security system. I have been reading consumer reports and reviews about ADT and Protect America. Protect America would be more affordable with equipment costs, but I want to make sure that whatever system I get actually works. Anyone have any suggestions on these or other companies?

What's the catch in a "free" home security system?
A salesman came to my door, asked if he could install a security system for free if I would allow him to place a sign for his company on my lawn. I'm obviously not going to agree, but when he comes back, I'd like some ammunition to explain why I am saying " no" . Where is he trying to make money off me? Is it a service contract for the system? Will the system malfunction and I will pay for repairs?

I have an ADT system installed here that I never use can't afford the monthly fee and the witch I bought the house from never left me any info about it as promised. It must be ten years old I've been here six. I am having my sliding glass doors replaced, and there are sensors on it. I'm supposed to have the sensors removed, but I'm wondering is there a point? System must be outmoded, can't afford to have ADT come here to do that on top of all the other expense. How is it hooked up? Can the installers just dispose of the old doors with the sensor on it without causing a problem? Thank you.
