We have ADT and have no complaints with them. I don't know about Alarmforce though. |

Consider carefully if you will actually use it. In my last house I had an ADT system installed because what I thought were shady characters in the neighborhood. At first it provided excellent peace of mind, but as the months wore on, it was a real pain. When coming back home with arms full of stuff from shopping, I was always rushing from the front door to drop the stuff and get to the keypad to disarm it before it was too late and the alarm would sound. Also, eventually I got lazy and didn't even bother to arm it when I went out, essentially not using it at all. I also didn't turn it on at night because if I stumbled in front of the sensor in the dark, the alarm would be triggered. So once it was armed I was always on edge, like a prisoner either locked out or locked in. Also, there have been so many false alarms and complaints from police departments that ADT (not sure about the others) will no longer automatically alert the police when the alarm is triggered. ADT will call you on the phone first and ask if you have an emergency. Not much help, that. My recommendation is either get a dog (the best warning system there is), or just get a fake lawn sign that says you have a system even if you don't. EDIT---- > forgot to mention that they lock you into a longterm contract and make it very hard to get out of it. |

If you want to get the most for your money, I recommend installing it yourself. I went through DoItYourselfSecuritySystems.com doityourselfsecuritysystems.com/ index.html because I really wanted a Honeywell security system, and I was very pleased with their products and their service. In addition to really great prices, they offer completely free professional telephone support, so if you do run into any issue while installing your system, help is just a phone call away. Additionally, they have all the extras you could need, from smoke alarms doityourselfsecuritysystems.com/ smoke-heat-detectors.html to glass break alarms doityourselfsecuritysystems.com/ glass-break-detectors.html, and will help you build a system customized to your specific needs. The added benefit of a job well done by yourself doesn't hurt either. I always try to do the things I think I can't do, and when I get them done well and for a lot less money, me and my pocket feel good! Hope this helps :) |
