You should really consider a monitoring service. It helps to have someone help protect you and your family 24/ 7. It's not as expensive as you might think. Here is an interesting link to a burglary caught on video: wpbf.com/ news/ 19140184/ detail.html |

You can buy many devices at places from hardware stores to home security stores and even the internet that you can install for a home security system. The same goes for security cameras. I've seen them for as little as $50. The problem with un-monitored alarm systems is they're not worth a d*mn if you're not home when someone sets them off. I'm sure you can have them page your phone, etc., but you've still got to take action from a distance. Insurance companies won't even sniff at an unmonitored alarm system for discount purposes. The security cameras are a good idea if someone is continually lurking around your home. Otherwise you have to wait until something happens and then review the recording or review it every day, which takes time. Having said that, my security service charges less than $20 a month for intrusion and fire. I continually see ads for installing systems for as little as $100 or less. As for security cameras, I am going to use them this winter when we put out our holiday decorations because some little (or not so little) perverts in the neighborhood keep messing with the lighted reindeer. |
