There are the big companies like ADT, Brickhouse, and then there are smaller companies. You will probably have to sign a contract with them all. That being said, check out what your up front costs are and your monthly rate. Also, check how long of a contract they want you to sign for. This is a lot like buying a cell phone package. Except most of the security companies will charge you for the hardware pretty hefty upfront and some of that also covers the guy's install fees. My ADT contract was for three years and you can't move within the first year you have it. When you are shopping for a system consider getting more than one alarm panel or get one of the key fobs to go with your system. A key fob is nice because you can put your keys beside your bed and then if there is a problem in the middle of the night and you don't want to investigate it you can hit that key alarm. Here are some reviews of companies in your area that were listed on Google: maps.google.com/ maps/ place?oe= utf-8 &rls= org.mozilla:en-US:official &client= firefox-a &um= 1 &ie= UTF-8 &q= las+ vegas+ security+ system+ home+ recommend &fb= 1 &gl= us &hq= security+ system+ home+ recommend &hnear= las+ vegas &cid= 46952899111284069 &ei= Yg6YS8XdCsyXtgeX0oDlAQ &sa= X &oi= local_result &ct= result &resnum= 3 &ved= 0CBsQnQIwAg This company did not get the best reviews: maps.google.com/ maps/ place?oe= utf-8 &rls= org.mozilla:en-US:official &client= firefox-a &um= 1 &ie= UTF-8 &q= las+ vegas+ security+ system+ home+ recommend &fb= 1 &gl= us &hq= security+ system+ home+ recommend &hnear= las+ vegas &cid= 5343927044865383600 &ei= Yg6YS8XdCsyXtgeX0oDlAQ &sa= X &oi= local_result &ct= result &resnum= 1 &ved= 0CBUQnQIwAA When you get your system don't let the companies try to scare you into buying more features. If you get any of those high pressure tactics, then that is a sure sign that they just want to make money off of you. I had a guy try to sell me glass brake sensors when I had a motion sensor that would have covered the same area already there.

When choosing a company to install your security or monitor your home, it really comes down to trust. They will know where you live, what stuff you have and how to turn off your security system. I suggest going with a smaller local company. Usually they are more responsive to customer needs because they are local. They can keep prices down because they won’t have the huge overheads of the larger companies with CEO’s making millions, a huge administrative staff, a multimillion dollar ad budget and so on. When I first got into the business over 20 years ago, I worked for a company that had about 50 installers. I saw several get arrested for various reasons including stealing from a customer during an install, car theft, drug use and parole violation. It is much easier for a small company to find 1 or 2 honest people to send to customers homes, than it is to find 50. Check with the BBB, your local Chamber, complaints.com, neighbors and friends. Get quotes from at least 3 companies. Ask about how long in business, monthly price, what their service rate is, how long is their contract and who owns the equipment. I would say that the company should have been in business for at least 5 years. Many new businesses fail in the first 3 years so 5 years should be safe. Do not pay more than $20 month. There is no reason to pay $35 to $45 a month. They all perform the same service and use basically the same equipment. Ask if they charge extra for additional devices like CO2 and smoke detectors. Why should you have to pay more? It doesn't cost them any more if you have a smoke detector. Check on their service cost. Some companies raise their monthly rate to cover full service maintenance, some will just charge on an as needed basis. I recommend the latter, you will pay less per month and probably only need service when the battery fails every 3 to 5 years. The contract should not be longer that a year, month to month preferably. If you do get a year contract, make sure that it becomes a month to month contract after the first year. Many companies will auto renew for the length of the original contract so they basically are never ending. If you do need to get out of one, they want the remaining amount still left on the contract. Most of the larger companies make you sign a 3 year contract. Finally, make sure you own the equipment. Believe it or not, the largest security company in the US has in the fine print on their web site terms and conditions page "System with installation price of less than $600 to remain property of XXX " (name removed to protect the guilty). Many companies follow their lead. Don't fall for the get quotes from alarm companies and save ads. You will get quotes from the companies you would want the least and believe me you will not save. I don't cover Vegas, but compare them to my company at aillc.us
