What is a good home security system?
I am shopping around for a good home security system that isn't super expensive and works wirelessly as we do not have a landline. So far, all of the reviews I have read for the top two companies ADT and Protect America sound like horror stories of fraud and faulty equipment. I just don't want to get ripped off

Remove home security keypad and plater over wires?
Hi,I have just moved into a new house and want to remove the ADT keypad display thing, and also the alarm, from the wall before I begin to paint. Can I just tape up ends of wires and stuff into wall before I plaster over? I would assume at least one of the wires is electrical but I don't know much about this kind of thing.Thank you

How can I get my home security system to turn on lights?
I'm looking for some answers, guidance or even just a point in the right direction. Alright a little background on myself and my system to get started.I have extensive experience running networks, so pulling lines is not a problem. I have the average joe experience in working with electrical lines. I ran power 60 ft to my shed into a second box, and then wired my shed lights, switches and outlets. No issues working with this.I have an Brinks security system which is now ADT. The system has a centralized box with battery backup. My shed got broken into a month ago, and $2800 worth or tools stolen. Other neighbors have been hit recently as well. I m going to take my money from the insurance co and install a nice CCTV system. So after that I ll have alarms and video when they break in. I m going to install a siren light on the front of my house, neighbors might not like it, I don t care. I m actually going to try and get them to do the same. We look out for each other and that would help, it s a good neighborhood.So I was looking at alarm parts because I m going to install window door sensors, a motion sensor and one of the CCTV cameras in the shed. Well I found out that alarm systems have a relay installed to sound the alarm inside. That got me to thinking, so this is what I want to do. Use the relay to turn on a handful of my lights on inside and outside the house when the alarm goes off. I m heading down the path of using home automation equipment to do so. This is where my knowledge is limited. I am looking for some sort of relay wired or wireless, than I can place in between my light switches and lights that can be triggered by the alarm relay. Any help or guidance would greatly be appreciated.I have a brinks system, I will have to get home to state the model. It is not a DIY security system. It is a it was in the house when I purchased it.

I just bought a house in a " bad" neighborhood and would like to know ways to prevent " bad" things from happening. Any home security system worth getting to prevent such issue? The installer came to my house and installed a security alarm for me yesterday. Its an australian brand called NESS with 3 sensers a control panel and a main box. I was trying to change my password and i think i have miss typed the new password, and i dont know what is the new password so after five times trying, the alarm went off, i had to take off tge back up battery to stop the siren. When i trying to reconnect the battery it asks me the password which i dont have then alarm went off again. I asked the installer to come over but he will charge me over 100bucks. Can anyone please tell me how to fix this problem , to reset the alarm , so i can choose a new password all from the begining.Please help.Its you cant post the answer on here , please send me an email to slimtom0618 hotmail.com

im using brinks home security light set up in my room im using it for a lamp in my room i just like building things from whats lying around the house but any ways my problem is that im not using a switch and im using a cord to plug it into a extension outlet so i can use the switch on there as the switch to turn the light off and on but the lights wont come on any sugestions???also i screwed the cover on to the lens so it will stay on all the time as if its night time even if i have other lights on in the room i just dont get why it wont come on do you think disconnecting the light sensors all together would help its only 5 wires total it cant many things
Home security system without a phone line?
I'm looking to get a home security system or alarm with monitoring, but I don't have a landline phone line. Anyone have any suggestions of companies to use? Has anyone had any experiences with GeoArm or Protect America?If anyone has used a system with broadband monitoring through the internet router or a GSM cellular unit, that info would be much appreciated.
